Sales volume in the Wellington market
Sunday, August 31, 2008
Ian Paterson, our Principal, comments sales volumes in the Wellington market place in the February/March/April period are reportedly down by approximately 50%. There is no question that the many media commentators portraying gloom and doom in the housing market are having an effect on confidence.
“What we find interesting is that the majority of these headlines and articles are written by young journalists, many of whom have not yet invested in the market themselves.
There is no doubt that prices have softened during this period but here at Just Paterson we have experienced the best May we have known.
What we are finding is that homes priced realistically which reflect the price realignment that the market has experienced are selling well. Enquiry comes from the internet, the orange Real Estate magazine and the Dominion Post, and the volume percentage of each media form is closely monitored. Any of our team can give you statistics on this.
The internet still plays a huge role in the marketing and knowledge gathering of prospective purchasers and Just Paterson were the first company in Wellington to have their own site. This has been built twice to keep up the technology and we will have a brand new site to launch in June. We will keep you posted on this exciting development.”
