Target Achieved - We Did It
Monday, May 10, 2010
With the loss of Sally Paterson to Glioma Multiforme - an aggressive form of brain cancer, last August, Just Paterson has been doing something special.
Following our “Blue September” promotion last year, we have been donating a portion of our professional fee to help raise much needed funds for the Malaghan Institute.
The Malaghan Institute is New Zealand’s leading medical research facility focused on finding cures for cancer, asthma, arthritis, multiple sclerosis and infectious disease. Based in Wellington, the Institute currently has more than 50 full-time scientists carrying out cutting edge immunology research into the prevention and treatment of cancer, multiple schlerosis, asthma, arthritis and infectious diseases.
Just Paterson co-director Ian Paterson says wife Sally’s death highlighted the groundbreaking work the Malaghan Institute is doing and provided Sally’s family, colleagues and clients with an opportunity to create something good out of their loss.
“We’re committed to working long-term with the Malaghan Institute to support their bid for a vaccine for this particular form of brain tumour and we’re delighted to have reached our initial target of $50,000.”
The fundraising efforts included the agent fee donations, company contributions and gifts from the community. The donation cheque was presented to the Malaghan Institute at a celebration for Just Paterson’s clients, friends and supporters on the evening of Monday 10th May 2010.
