OWNERS COMMENTS
We bought this special site about five years ago from a local builder who had been reserving it to build a house for himself. We put heart and soul into the design and construction of a special home. We think, working in conjunction with Richard Middleton of Novak+ Middleton Architects, we succeeded in creating a home that is both beautiful and functional.
We've loved living here for the past two years. We're sad to be moving on … we weren't planning to move quite so soon. We're moving because a new phase of our lives beckons.
We delight in arriving home … seeing the house perched amongst others high above Wellington's hills, harbour and city. It is apart from Khandallah centre, yet only a few minutes walk away from all it has to offer. The Clive Road 'community' is a friendly one – we have lovely neighbours.
There is so much we will miss, beginning with the astounding views from the living spaces and adjoining decks, both day and night. The living areas expand when we slide open the big doors, bringing the outdoors inside. We love eating meals, especially breakfast, on the family / dining room deck, gazing out across the harbour.
We will also miss the light-filled spaces and all day sun (which makes for a warm home), how the house really 'works' as a home, and all the design details and fixtures and fittings over which we took so much care. We are particularly sorry to leave behind our lovely open plan kitchen (apart from, yet integrated with, the living space, and with so much storage space – none of the cupboards are crammed full), the laundry (we never have wet washing drying in the living space) and, of course, especially at the end of a busy day, our master bedroom suite, with its large walk-in wardrobe / dressing room and luxurious bathroom.
